Hello all, been a while since i posted anything here, new track from my self called 'Pure - Dance'
http://www.speedyshare.com/237217495.html Take a look, tell me what you think, obviously its still in the rough stages but i'd still like some feedback on it, so i can be in the rite direction from the go! What I've done is gone for the UFO/Trance kind of fee to it.

Eh. There's virtually no bass (or bass in the kicks) and the lead sound is just another one of those epic trance synths that's in every UK hardcore song, and it's getting really old really fast. Not to be mean, but it's really uninteresting.

Pope C is going to hate every lead you make, if you're making UK hardcore... i think he just hates the typical trancey lead... so if you're making UK Hardcore (which it sounds like you are) then dont take his advice.
If you're going for something more old school then hes definitely the one to speak to about it, however.
The synth isnt bad for a starter, it needs a lot more layers and i really didnt like that long drawn out note when it came to the breakdown... the note went for a whole bar each time me thinks?
If you cancelled out all of the detuning in that however, lowered the cut off and made it a chord, then it would sound like a nice layer for the pads.
I could also tell that some notes were clashing. Well the synths themselves were actually crashing. I think you may have used the same synth for that long drawn out note with the synth coming in over the top because they definitely clash - you need to change that up. Sounds really generic by itself as well. Add 2 or 3 layers til you get a unique sound to it and it should sound a lot thicker and wider.
Also with the different layers make a bassey layer (so the notes fall in around C6) and cut out all the low frequencies up to about 150-200 hz so it doesnt clash with the kick drum or the bass. Then add say two other layers with different synths (that fit well together) so they fall in around C7 and youve got a nice synth for yourself.
With the bass also, something i see too many people doing nowdays is having a low cut off for the bass - dont do that! Raise the cut off, its its own instrument in the mix and it needs to be heard. You wouldnt have a lead synth running with a 50% cut off would you?
Doalll those things and post a new clip.

What can I say? I just can't help being me.
(The lead wasn't all that bad really, just not really interesting. As Influx pointed out, layering is the name of the game, and having a multilayered lead is key for UK hardcore.)
