The main features i'm intressed inn is the Instrument Tracks!!!
Has anyone used these? I'm guessing it basically cuts out the crappy VSTi panel and lets you load intruments on the fly [kinda like FL lets you do] - which personal is the one of the ball acks i dislike about cubase 3! - but... i just need to know for the details from someone whos used it before i think about splashing out my money....

Also...
The MediaBay – media file management system
^^^ Really nice feature to have...

Here - lets judge it all up:

Heres a Brief overview of the key fundamental new features in this addition:
http://www.steinberg.net/41_1.html

Heres Some Videos Explaining the new features:
http://www.steinberg.net/986_1.html

And heres a COMPLETE List of every single last improvements in this installment to cubase:
http://www.steinberg.net/fileadmin/redaktion/PDF/Cubase_4/Cubase_4_New_features_GB.pdf

My question is simply...
Has anyone used cubase 4 - and can you give me a realistic review on it as to whether it would suit me and/or if its worth my money?

The list price is like £600 - So you can kinda understand why i'm asking :P
[no dowt i'll find it cheeper though after casing around afew suppliers ;) hehe - hey its my job ]

Thanks Guys in Advanced

Absolutly not imo!

Find a t0rrent, try the program out. Then if you like it and are going to use it, buy it. No way on earth would i spend 600 quid just to see if i liked it

There should be an update if you already have cubase 3 that's less expensive...but maybe not.

I can't find any - anywhere?
Only Cubase SX 3...

Leto: i have cubase 3 yes - but... *whispers* its ungenuine :S lol :P

So like... i wouldn't mind splashing out £600 on cubase 4 as it would be a way of paying back for having used both...

p.s. BTW - This is Cubase SX 4 were talking about
[not the oldskool cubase 4 lol]

If you're willing to spend the bucks and you have the bucks to spend...it's a really good music production program. Go for it I'd say.

It's not Cubase SX4. Steinberg have ditched the 'SX.' The cheaper version is called Cubase Studio 4 with less features.

I say it's worth it. I am a Cubase fanatic, and am running cubase SX3. Unfortunately can't afford Cubase 4 atm but if I had the money to upgrade I'd do it in a sec.

Things like media bay, Saving 'track' presets, the new vst instruments and the new control room feature, I would use on almost every project. I know I'm being biased, but just look at what your needs are and you'll get your answer. Put it this way, it's gotta be better than Cubase SX3, and that's already a monster.

Id not pay 600 quid for anything that a 50quid piece of software can do just as well. Cubase is over rated imo

If you are a college student or know anyone who is, you can get almost 50% off with a student discount. You'll have to find a store that specializes in educational discounts, but it will be well worth it if you're on a budget.

The program is definitely worth it, IMO. It's always a big investment initially no matter what program you choose to go with, but future upgrades to newer versions will be extremely cheap ($200 to go from SX3 to 4). Most of the bundled plug-ins got improved, the re-assignable inserts are godly, the mediabay is pretty cool, and you won't be able to find a "free" version of this anywhere. As much as some people like to complain about it, after a few months of using it I've actually found it to be more stable than SX3. Way less crashes and really odd behavior.
