Hi I'm virtually a total noob when it comes to this. I used to make shit on ACID like almost 10 years ago probably, only just getting back into producing now. I'm learning FL Studio at the moment, little bit of Reason.

I want to start by messing around with ways I can distort your basic club kick into either a bouncy party-core style kick or a crunchy distorted industrial sound

Can anyone give me any pointers on how to get started? Really, I have played around a little, watched a few tutorial vids on youtube, that's about it.

Thanks in advance for your time

well as you mention FL Studio... i would say put like 3 fast dist on your kick and an Equo.. the Equo will sorta bring back the bass nd lower the high tones a little bit if the dist was just a bit to much.. its a matter of playing around with it :)

nd yes thats a nice tut :) funny thing is.. his end result.. hmm i got a sample of that sorta kick already ;)

take the regular kick, put a wee bit of feedback on it, pull it through the bloodrive effect and flesh it out to your own taste... done.
there are plenty of kicks available online, download a few and put em through said process and voila: a whle range of gabber kicks

thats the fruity osc ;) well.. 3x osc to be precize =] its an oscilator (or something in that direction) which makes a standard sound.. by changing hights and such you can change the sound of it which ends up in the result he has.. search youtube for FL 3x osc tutorial :)
