so heres a thing

im getting married - the wedding is booked and payed for - but if some snobby mobile DJ thinks im paying him £250 for 3 hours work (this is how much they cost in the lake district)
they have another thing coming

so my girl let me purchase £250 worth of mobile DJ type gear insted!
so now i have some wonderful carpeted speakers, a T bar lighting stand, a mushroom Disco light and a hyper moon and a smoke machine...
what we're gonna do is hook the laptop up to the mixer along with my decks, still no problem here....

I dont DJ on the computer at all, so this is new to me, I have Traktor DJ Studio, and i've been reading about the "auto mix" options, because we're just going to set up a wedding playlist and let it mix itself, while we go and have a good time on the dancefloor with everyone else.

I know how to set it up to automix with the current playlist - no problem.

the problem is it doesnt seem to be changing the BPM of the tracks at all as it mixes them in - it just attempts to keep them in time even though the bpm's are off and then fades one out and one in.

if i hit "sync" whilst its doing it - it THEN adjusts the BPM and carrys on mixing in time!

at the momen all its doing is more like auto start and fade than "auto mix"
whats the good in auto mix if all you get is a train wreck that can be solved with a manual click of the "sync" button...that means i have to stand there and click "sync" as it auto fades and starts...

do you guys see where im coming from??
what have i missed??? for what its doing right now - Winamp does it...and winamp is FREE lol

***edit***
after a bit of messing around ive found out for myself that there is an option in the prefrences called "Syncro Start" which when ticked, fixed it....shit man, talk about killing th DJ lol
cant believe how easy this makes it for any n00b to install and just click "sync" and BAM, songs in time and right BPM...all that remains is for them to drag a fader...christ!

**further edit**

yeah its still not doing it well, if at all..

traktor dj studio is software that goes wif hardware really .. to mix with digital vynil nd cd's ..
http://www.serato.com/scratchlive

like that =] load up an mp3 in traktor .. hook ur hardware up to pc and mixer.. get ur digital vynil on the decks and itll play the track from your pc into your mixing into your decks back into the mixer out the speakers :p if ya get me.. basicly.. u got 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000 tracks on ur vynil... if ya got that many on ya pc lol..

ok for so far explaining wot traktor is all about.. ive bin using traktor to dj without decks aswell.. just for fun nd pretty cool really lol.. setup ur keyboard quickkeys nd mix it all up very nice =] actually the angerfist only mix (some of ya might remember that one) is done wif traktor dj studo.. ok ok .. i did use my final scratch and vynil decks but it was all from the album that i BOUGHT (stop downloading ppl!! xD)

anyway to ansewr ur question.. the automix in traktor basicly SUCKS.. all it does is play the tracks u listed in ur music libary (spelling).. the synth button is very very nice.. =] does not always work correct so i prefer to stay wif mixing on my own hearing ;) dont trust on the autosync.. nd deffo not on the automix.. it just starts mixing 30 seconds before the track ends.. which can in some tracks be a part that is completly wrong to mix on really. if ya want to ave a 3 hour long mix wif this program.. then do a mix before ur whole party.. put it up into the playlist.. even if its a 3x 1hours mix.. then put that on autoplay.. itll just ave 2 dodgy parts in the mix where 1 -> 2 nd 2 -> 3.. all sorted best way imo =]

note: traktor dj supports only proper wav/mp3 files.. wma nd other crap usually leads to crashes xD (least thats my experience =p)

well thankyou for that lol - though i do know what it is and how to use it - i just couldnt work out why its auto mix was so flacid when it seems to do everything else for you just fine.

it is now mixing the tracks itself to a standard that im happy with.

traktor has been around before all the hardware and coded vinyl though hasnt it?
i remember having VTT by carrotsoft back in 1999 which did the same thing...

imo there is absolutly nothing like having vinyl.
personally, i dont see any fun whatsoever in sitting infront of a computer and pressing play and then dragging the crossfader with my mouse to the next song.
the computer mixes always come out sounding so clynical and ...well...automated and perfect
and from using this program for just a few days i can whip out a perfect mix in seconds..and so could anyone to be honest..i dont think im sticking my neck out too much to say - there isnt much skill required.

i have yet to download someones mix on here who used Serato/Final scratch etc etc so i cant comment on how those sound...

yeah this software is retarded, its still not really doing it well.

for somthing that already has a sync button, and has detected the BPM...and lets you set cue points its pretty stupid that this software that does everything else for you, wont perform this simple task well...

5 days left till the wedding and im trying to sort this playlist out
