Now I know this turntable is supposedly skipless... but mine does skip, yet I'm not sure if its just down to the fact that some of my vinyl have some warping curves or if the TT isn't right.. I have noticed the platter does tend to drop down at one point on the circle.

As for the needle. I've got the standard Stanton 680 V3 cart and 2g weight on the headshell. I've also got 4.3g of needle pressure, which is within the spec on their website. Height adjust is set to 0. Any ideas?

I don't know if its normal to have the platter a little dippy at one point on the table. Also, does the newer version of this TT have the silver pitch slider or the rubber black one?

Thanks in advance

Simon.

It's not the turntable that's the problem here but probably the needle. Are you scratching with this turntable? I used to use the 680 cart with mine until i purchased some Shure M44Gs. Best needles ever and they almost never skip if tuned properly. They only need 1.5g weight aswell so they have next to no record wear.

The 680 V3s aren't the best scratch needles out there but have good sound quality. Just be careful when you backcue and not do it too fast as it can skip there aswell but otherwise it's fairly solid.

If it's skipping if you're not touching the actual record then you might actually have troubles with the turntable or the needle is just busted.

And i got mine over 2 years ago and i have a rubber fader nub.

Hope that helps!

Ah right that makes sense actually. It happens somtimes when I'm cueing the track and then rocking the beat to get it in time before letting it roll, but I think its actually the vinyl causing me the problem there as it happens more on some vinyl than others. Or like you said, it could just be the needle, I try to keep it as clean as possible though. Cheers for the reply Ravine.

And I think the newer ones must be the rubber ones... my neighbour has the old style logo on his with all the wavey lines and shiznits. But his has the silver fader. I dunno, I only bought it two weeks ago, just never noticed his TTs skipping, but I think he probs uses different needles anyway. :)

Thanks again dude, look forward to your next recording. Always a nutter. :P

4.3g is ALOT of weight so you're killing your records by using those carts

Stanton needles are terrible though, so it's not that surprising

Try Shure Whitelabels or Shure M44-7s, they're much better and need less weight to track properly.

Skipping is often about turntable setup though.

Is the table it's on stable?
Is it flat (use a leveller)?
Is the tonearm height set correctly?
Is the antiskate/cart weight set correctly?
