So I've been dabbling in a bit of production for a while but I'm still quite inexperienced. I've been working on a hardstyle track lately and I was hoping for some help. I have the melody and beats and all that it's just the levels are all over the place. I need some EQing. I've never done it before though and don't know what to do. The main melody is taking away from all the other sounds but when I just turn down the instrument I used for the melody it doesn't sound as good. I'm stuck.
So I was hoping for a point in the right direction. I'm using FL. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Here's the track
It hasn't got an intro and outro and all that yet it just goes straight into the melody.
Thanks in advance

well, it doesn' sounds too hardstyle to me, it sounds too "happy"
notice that most hardstyle songs have a snare and a ride hitting at the same time with the kick, that is what gives it that "in your face" feel
that, and a proper phat bass
as for the EQ stuff, try cutting the low frecuencies in the main synth

Sounds like it could be well on it's way.
Definitely use a high pass filter to cut the lows on the main synth to clean up the low end mud.
As for eq'ing one thing I usually do is look at a frequency analyzer (if you have one) on each of my sounds to see where a majority of it sits. I then notch out those selective frequencies from the other sounds to create a pocket for that sound. This way you can have the volume up and have everything sitting nicely in the mix.
If you don't have an analyzer you can put and EQ on one of the sounds and 'sweep' a notch filter (high gain, hi Q) along the spectrum and listen to what start bursting through to get an idea of where a majority of the sound you are looking for sits along the Hz spectrum.
You can msg me if you have any questions or need a better explanation, as I feel like I'm just talking random audio tech gibberish right now ^_^

Sorry for taking so long to reply guys I've been busy. School
Anyway thanks for the tips.
Naturatech, yeah it was intended as a hardstyle track but kinda strayed slightely from that But I didnt know that about the snares and rides hitting at the same time as the kick. I'll bear that in minds thanks.
OrigamiDJ, Thank you for the help. I was following you til you started talking about "Sweeping" and what not then you lost me So what I'll do is try fixing it up myself and if I get stuck I'll PM you. Thanks for the help
