Busted.

If you want to make a real sarnie though you will be needing bread. Rolls just don't cut it.

Choice is good but when there is only room for 1 loaf in the breadbin why fill it with an inferior one. :)

Because you don't have the cash for the best I suppose... lol There ends my arguement.

I'm hungry. :(

Well yes but I guess some people feel they NEED TO EAT NOW so just can't hold off. If it was me I'd starve myself for a bit and enjoy the best, definitely. 8-)

Everytime a Technics advocate comes out of the woodwork and proclaims why they are the best, its always for the following reason:

1) They're built like a tank! I can run over them with my car and they will still work!
2) They are the industry standard! Everyone uses them!

To which I say

1) I do not plan on throwing my turntable out of a window or doing handstands on them
2) Industry standard? Really? Go on youtube and type in "technics 1200 scratch" and see how many results you get. Now type in "numark scratch" and see how many results you get.

I'm not trying to start another argument guys, just an observation. I personally learned how to mix on a pair of ancient STR8-80's, and they worked perfectly from the day I got them at my doorstep to four years later when I sold them.

What people mean by industry standard is these are the decks you will play on in clubs. I've never played at a club that has any other turntable.

It doesn't matter if you don't plan on throwing them out the window. :P They are still the most reliable deck around, they just don't break. I know loads of people with broken Stanton and Vestax decks but none with broken technics. My brother has had his about 15 years now! Me and most of my mates have had ours for 8-10 odd years.

They are also by far the best deck around at holding their speed and they don't loose this accuracy over time.

Don’t get me wrong, the other top end decks are OK. I just don't see the point in going down that route.

I had a Technics that was the original MK2 from 1978 or something
I used it to do everything including record mixes until I got M5Gs last year

It was over 30 years old.

LOL

Like AW said, it's the industry standard because you'll never show up at a club and be asked to play on Numark or Stanton (thank god).

And it's not prejudice. I've been mxiing for a long time and I've mixed on just about everything. Technics are by far the best. The others might have more torque but they don't old the pitch as well, and their pitch faders feel like shit. Torque is useless for mixing, and they use Technics at the DMC scratch championships so that should tell you they have enough power for scratching.

hehe rhythmics hit the nail on the head.

like broken records

they hold their pitch just as well, if you cant get them in proper time, thats your issue ;)
as for pitch faders feeling like shit, thats opinion

so your still just left with "in all clubs" and "has lasted 30 years"

in all clubs doesnt matter, if your a good DJ you should be able to do a good job no matter what equipment you are put on.

lasting 30 years, X1's wont beat until 30 odd years has past the release date

so far mine have held up and its been over 6 years, thats with the champaign and country moves :)

needless to say, DMC's biggest sponser being technics...followed by ortofon, which im sure are the carts the guys are using, and i wouldnt be surprised if Rane are doing the rest of the Eq ;)

cut a long story short, no matter how much the turntable nazi's whine about whats what, there are still a stupid amount of kick ass DJ's out there who are lovin and spinnin and scratchin on decks other than technics.

opinion wise, i cant feel much difference between an X1 and a 1210 - though imo its a hell of alot more fun to scratch on X1's than 1210's
