There's hope for me yet. I cant stand the idea of using VEC or Nexus. At least there's one big name who feels the same.
For kicks Sylent1. For leads, basses, pads, few other bits and pieces (like closed hats and the odd effect) sylenth1. Love that thing.
depends how you use them imho... yes overall it sounds cheap but why the **** wud someone even think bout using a clear synth :P? nexus + efx = actually pretty nice =] but after 3 tracks u do get bored of it ^^' well.. i do =]
Because you learn more and requires more skill?
What happens when you're plonked in a studio where you don't have nexus or your regular samples? You need to know the theory on how to get the sounds you want, rather than just having a menu of premade sounds.
If production is like cooking a meal, Nexus/Vengeance is like going to get MacDonalds.
just saying you can get nice sounds out of it.. not saying its a must to have them.. most of the tracks i got atm are not using any synth vst but kicks or stabs with efx nd such.. ya can get synths out of anything really if u know how to :)

They're really useful for FX, kicks perc etc. Worth buying if you use samples.
