For anyone who hasnt seen or heard this already, rumour has it Sharkeys leaving the scene.

Post from a while ago on this forum:
quote:
Hi all

I just wanted to add a few words to clear a few things up as a couple of folks seem to assume things (no digs intended)

Yes there was no Sharkey material on this mix and there are reasons why this has happened.

I have been seriously ill over the last 18 months and i found out some bad health news early this year after many trips to the doctor we found out what was going on. I have had a major operation this year and i am due one more. I have been at the doctors now every week for months having treatment so this has meant that i have been running a very light studio diary and weekend schedule.

I did want to pull out of the album at the time as i was not feeling very well at all but props up to Jon Cdjay, Gaz, Nick & kev as they all wanted me to participate and they got me on board

I do have material that could have gone onto the album but i kept it off. Until my health is back to fitness then i am sitting on all of it and nothing will happen with then. I know people might take that negativly but i want to be fighting fit and firing on all cylinders when my material comes out.

There is a Sharkey website being built at the moment and some of my material will be available on there. I aim to have that ready by January when i go back to work full time. The other projects i have in the pipeline will be announced when i have official dates fully ready. Until then i am sorry folks my health comes first.

I am now feeling alot better and it has taken a long time for me to get this far. I am back in the gym now which 5 months ago was a pipe dream and feeling better each day so i am gonna get back to my day and be very scared of my fitness instructor who is a beast and im not looking forward to my hour cardio today

peace and love folks!!!

Jon Sharkz

that's a shame, great news that he's getting better and can keep producing. Him and Gammer pretty much make happy hardcore for me.

Well if it does happen its a shame, the line-up looks good for this year, nice to see Angerfist coming to the UK and also God is back where he belongs Kathryn

It'd be a shame but if it's down to health issues then it's deffinatly the right thing to do.

ok, this topic is a little confusing to me. i was expecting some proof of this claim. i even went to ush to find any, and none

that quote was posted on 1 of the HU2010 topics here on the forums too.

personally i doubt this is true at all. perhaps this should be moved to the rumors forum.

i agree with latin - nowhere in that post does it say the word retire, its just a explanation as to lack of sharkey tracks on HU2010..

if anything it says "hey, i'll be back in full swing eventually"

The statement that Sharkey made obviously doesn't indicate he was retiring. On the HH weekender flyer it states that it's his last set. I hear he's got a job as as a techer, so that could be why.

I'm so glad Sharkey is on the mend if this is true. I can't help but wonder if it was his wild partying ways that caught up with him and was a contributing factor to his health. The guy is very talented, but he did go a lot harder than the rest of the djs.
Just look at all the old Bonkers covers. Sharkeys eyes are always in crazy colours. I think they should delay the new Bonkers till he is well again. Would be well worth the wait to have him on the CD.

It's worth noting that Slipmatt said he retired from hardcore around 2000 but he still plays it and is booked for loads of events including the Hardcore Heaven Weekender 2011. Seduction was supposedly retiring from hardcore this year but got booked for another event after his "final set". Tons of other DJ's and producers have said/done this too.

It's very hard for people in the limelight to step away from it. If he does "retire" he'll be back, maybe in a reduced capacity but he'll be back.

It states in the line up that its Sharkeys last ever set.

He's booked for both the Tall Trees Weekender & HTID in the Sun, both of which are after the Hardcore Heaven Weekender.
