As we all know, Westfest is the grandest stage of them all when it comes to hardcore music. The whole year gears up to this event and only the greatest music deserves to be on that stage.

Following on from 2013's huge year for freeform, with HTID In The Sun sets from A.B, Douglas, Endemic and Arkitech and the first HH main room set since 2011 from Thumpa, A.B & Douglas, we decided the next step is to get freeform back in the main room at Westfest! With sold out albums and strong releases from ReBuild Music, Stamina Records, Watchtower, FINRG, Smiling Corpse and more, an exciting approach to pushing new music and a desire to give a crowd something different, we think it deserves to be in that main room.

If you think this music deserves exposure on the biggest stage of 2013 then simply click 'attending' and share this page on your Facebook, Twitter and any other social media outlet you can think of!

I'm confused - is this an event for a cause then? I always got the impression from Freeform artists, they wanted to be a little more independent from Hardcore and break away a bit. Is it that dignifying to effectively grovel for a slot in a Hardcore event?

I don't mean any disrespect, I just can't see quite what the short/long term aim is. Do we want a slot at Westfest or do we want a genre that is bigger, healthier and able to stand on its own two feet?

Freeform went down the toilet when Kevin and sharkey retired.

No harm in shooting for both, which is what I think Thumpa is.

I've never been one of the people who wants freeform independant from hardcore, especially at big raves. I grew up with freeform alongside happy hardcore in the main rooms.

Vladel no disrespect but you have no idea what you're talking about. Bigger selling releases, more variety, loads of events, the music is healthier than it was 5 years ago, easily. You might think the music isn't as good but the fact is it's selling more than when Kev & Sharkz were around.

I think that it's a nice sentiment to rally the troops and stuff, but the way I see it, its a bit indignifying to do all this just for a slot at Westfest. I think it enpowers Uk Hardcore and the people who run Slammin Vinyl. I think that Freeform is healthier and has a bright future (Vladel talks pure bollocks) but it doesn't need an hour slot at a hardcore event to keep developing.
Besides, as far as slammin vinyl are concerned, if Fracus & Darwin are playing, thats Freeform covered, such is the stupidity of some people

Well I have to agree with both vladel and thumpa. Freeform went down hill (but before) when kev and sharkey stopped producing. Someone told me once that the "bigger guys" wanted to make freeform more like hard dance, which is why I believe Hardscape was introduced by the CLSM crew, and Kevin Energy's overall production felt and sounded more like hard trance than Hardcore. I almost started to dislike Freeform then. Thankful, guys like Synthwulf and Endemic came along and kept me into it. But for the past 5 years I've definitly gotten more into Makina and Gabber.

But I believe Thumpa just wants Freeform to get more recognition like it did during the Bonkers days. How many of the combilations did not include a freeform mix?

I was reading a few comments about this on facebook. I'm all for Freeform being showcased at big Hardcore events. The DJs, promoters and producers deserve it. And there are undoubtedly a decent number of ravers out there that would like it if they heard it.

Just because there's a few sets of it at a UK Hardcore event (or on a UK Hardcore-dominated stage) doesn't mean it can't maintain a degree of musical independency. :-)

It doesn't need an hour of the music showcasing at Westfest no, but that's like saying McDonalds don't need adverts on TV to help sell burgers...it can only help though.

I don't think anyone realises the magnitude of Westfest until they go and see 10,000 people. Its by far the UK's biggest hard dance/hardcore/D&B event and this is the perfect place to show our sound, it's that simple.

I would say that McD seriously doesnt need to be advertised anywhere... except maybe North Korea or Tibet :P

This pretty much. It would do well for freeform to have the potential of gaining some new fans from those 10,000+ people.

I mean seriously that helps ANYONE!

Hell Darren Styles played at EDC Las Vegas this year, an event with over 300,000 people in attendance. Never has a UK hardcore DJ been featured at EDC to my knowledge, so imagine the good it did to him, and possibly the scene. Although more of the mainstream scene that most ppl on here are not fond of, but who's to say that those new fans can't potentially be fans of other styles of UK hardcore?
