While I was searching videos for another topic, I stumbled upon this documentary about the Energiehal; "the birthplace of gabber".

Must see for everyone that likes Dutch hardcore from the early/mid-90s.

English subtitles included.

Good find, nice one. watching now.

I'd have loved to rave in the early 90's to early gabber, at the time I didn't even know it existed.. I found Gabber/hardcore techno/speedcore etc about '97 and was often found in the technodrome at helterskelter's and went to my 1st Q-dance event (Qore 3.0 @ the heineken music hall, Amsterdam) in 2011 which simply blew UK events away really, to date it's been the best event I've ever been to.

Check out @ 07.00 in the vid, some good ecstasy in action! :D

****ING HOSTIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLE ... YES!

Quality.

there needs to be a documentary made about scottish hardcore, happy hardcore & uk hardcore like how it started etc the "death" of the scene and the "rebirth" of the scene in the uk i'm listening to a a playlist jampacked full of pretty much every style of hardcore old and new and it got me thinking about how it all started

Gotta agree with ya mate! I think there was a pause in the year 2000-2001 when happyhardcore virtually 'died' but was resurrected (came to life again) @round mid-2002 onwards. Jungle breakbeat elements were dropped in favour of 'full on' hard banging techno/trance beats. and there was a kinda clubbish-rave mentality to the scene now. Because lo and behold, it hhc was beginning to become mainstream and the DJ's now enjoyed bigger followings among a 'new' generation of 'new ravers'.
