REALLY?
I may be a bit grumpy this morning but I find those 2 tunes embarrassingly ordinary.
I'm so close to F***ing hardcore off altogether, getting to the point where listening to a lot of stuff actually annoys me!
It's only the odd killer tune that is keeping me interested. If HU6 & The Brisk album aren't any good i'm off.
The Ranzor tune is a beast though.
Got to say that I agree. I don't think I'd buy either of those tunes. Although the FW clips are virtually unlistenable because of the watermarking imo -- so distracting! As if anyone could even make a mixable edit out of that clip anyway.
I don't know whether it's me that's changed or if it really is just the standard of the music that's declined.
Yep, I'm afraid so lads. I like them. And I can understand that you don't - opinions are opinions.
The only thing that I'll concede is that I probably got myself overly-excited because I expect extremely little from these two particular guys, generally speaking (in terms of catering to my personal taste). When the tracks managed to not drop into momentumless voids I was extremely happy.
The vocals on the Petruccio track really make it for me. Whether they're over-processed, whether the lyrics are tired and overused - I don't really care too much. They just happen to have a nice balance of vulnerable and emotional that just make me really like the track in general. Hardcore's Hardcore - and I appreciate that what's disposable cheap tosh to one person is catchy and engaging to another!
And Deano: Pleased stick it out for a few months mate, please! I know you can't go on listening forever and you are a monumental legend for sticking with Hardcore for as long as you have. I really think good things are happening. Irrespective of the tracks I've listed here - the colossal amount of material forthcoming on HU along with the promising Freeform scene/labels has to be worth just sticking around until Christmas or so!
I have to admit, I'm in the same boat as Dean and Elliot. I'm just not digging most of the Hardcore around, and as result I don't endeavor to look for it to hear it. I'm still in Hardcore because I'm so wrapped up in all my own projects. I've really enjoyed the tracks from the new HU EP though, and HU6 needs to be good to keep me interested though. The problem is, so many of the promising releases seem to be so frustratingly late. HU6 is god-knows where. The Sharkey album has been promised, but I have a gut feeling that it won't happen.
I'm going to a small event in Pompey next month so it will be interesting to see what is played there and whether I'll take to it.

Exactly! CDJay isn't in the habit of being a damn flake. He will release it, it's all just a matter of when. He just doesn't want to rush the album nor any other production involving his projects, which I totally understand. You can tell the difference between an album that was completed in haste to one that a lot of thought and effort was put into.
My only tiff about these projects are they're never done in the time they estimated. HU6 was supposedly coming in July along with another album, which we all thought was going to be the al storm and euphony album. Also brisk's album was supposedly complete, and now I just read that it's 95% completion and all that's left is the tracklist, which is always the culprit to delays that could be for just a couple of days to a couple of months! But all is forgiven once the final product is in my hand! :)
I don't expect HHU or the Sharkey album to be done before the end of the year, and maybe the storm & euphony album. But that's ok, as that will make the beginning of the year quite interesting for HU!

And stop talking shit Dean you're not going anywhere. You make the exact same claim every year at least once for the past 3 years and you're still here. Just like some ppl say they're gonna f**k off and leave the site and they keep coming back. ;)

It *is* done, content wise. The tracklist for the DJ mix is being finalised, that's all.
The Al Storm & Euphony album was essentially finished a while ago. There's pretty much no way that'll fail to ship for end of October.

As far as the new stuff on Scott Brown's Soundcloud goes, I'm a bit disappointed. I expected something a bit more special from the return of a legend like him.
The last time he properly impressed me with a track was probably about 2007 or 2008 though so I'm waiting for proof that he can still write insta-classic riffs like he used to.

I was racking my brains wondering what his new sound was going to be like. Big bouncy kicks? 'Dubcore'? Minimalistic breakdowns? Jungle? I knew they were all unlikely. Figured it would be pretty much as it turned out.
I don't think disappointed is the word I'd use. Underwhelmed, maybe. I wasn't expecting anything groundbreaking after all, I still like the new tunes I heard from him.
Fuck paying ?1.99 for a single track on Trackitdown though. I'll wait til they are cheaper somewhere.

I'm not to much of a fan of a lot of tunes posted, but the track that Jay posted "Defekt - Stars Fall (Stu Infinity Remix)" is a banger, gets me going every time :-)

Personally it's mostly Gammer that is holding my attention these days, remixes like this:
https://soundcloud.com/rebuild_music/jd-kid-unforgettable-gammer To original productions like this: https://soundcloud.com/djgammer/goodlife-badday To bootlegs like this: http://gamridye.bandcamp.com/album/because-kanye I'm also glad that re-con is more active now, that guy made some of the best tracks from 1000 kisses to Bang 9 and Enjoi, let's hope he makes something spot on like those tracks again! Any decent freeform about? I'm waiting to listen to HU6 to update myself but i used to be really on it. Anything good and recent from the likes of AB, Douglas, and Endemic would be awesome! DMS, if you fancy a change and dipping your tastebuds in something different come to a psy-trance rave called astral circus in brixton jam on the 15th November, the music has a little bit of a darker edge but the parties are quite literally insane!

Yeah, I can see that and I think you're right that it's more underwhelming than outright disappointing. I was interested in whether or not he would be able to keep up with modern production values. I mean, let's be honest, the guy never really got past 2005 in terms of his sound even when he was producing regularly (of course, many see that as a good thing). I was worried that his tracks were just going to sound pathetic alongside the production quality and lead strength of hardcore tunes these days. Based on the stuff on his Soundcloud, I'd say my concerns have only been partially allayed. He's clearly got some catching up to do but at least Enlightenment demonstrates that he can still write a solid melody.

I don't think people were expecting Scott Brown to return and reinvent Hardcore with a set of revolutionary tracks. To be honest, I was looking forward to hearing more amazing tracks in his well established own style.
