And another weakness of Hardcore today is that for many years it tries to sound like a different genre. Of course new influences should always be welcomed and brings in fresh blood, but to my opinion no one get's impressed simply by hearing a paced up Hardcore version of an already existing genre. It doesn't matter to point out the finger at a certain genre: I mean it for every genre - either Trance, Electro, Dubstep, Minimal, etc...
If Hardcore wants to get back on the feet than it has to use its individual sound and be able to push other genres wanting to sound like Hardcore. In the middle of the 90's Trance was pushed very much by Hardcore. That's how Hardtrance and later on Progressive Trance developed. And even genres like Schranz developed itself from the big rave wave back then.

I just surprised d & b is more popular in England than hardcore, def don't think that's the case in Ireland, not that theres much of a scene in Ireland at the minute, but back in the day you had regular nights at various clubs about the place playing hardcore, and the big british dj's coming over to play as well, even cds in the music shops, all the big hardcore releases where there, I can only ever recall seeing an andy c cd once in a music shop (not that i'm looking for d & b cds) and I don't know anyone who listens to d & b, and people I know would know what hardcore is but some probably wouldn't know what d & b is (I think)
