Uk hardcore and French hardtek come from the same root: the UK rave sounds of the early 90's. UK hardcore evoluted in a melodic happy way while the hardtek became faster with a techno mood. But today the dubstep-electro sounds relinked hardly thoses 2 genres, so close that it s sometimes very hard to feel that thoses 2 genres are dinstinct. Of course the UK HC stills droping female vocals and the hardtek stills basically faster (170-190 bpm) but the speed electro drops are amazingly similar. Here re some hardtek tracks

i don't see the point you're trying to make 'Mat Weasel'?
UK hardcore is a variant to happy Hardcore music from the 90s and
Hardtek .. well isnt' that just 'Hard Techno' or is there a difference there? My head's spinning with all these made up genres!
and Wong, are you saying UK hardkore is 'sh*t?? what the?

Sounds ok but this hardtek or whatever you call it still sounds more like hardhouse than hardcore to me.
And you were at Monegros? Nice it seems like a fun festival to be at, wish they had more harder styles rather than house and whatnot. Love that Petduo is there every year it seems, gives me a reason to think about going just for them.

I quite like hardtek for what it is. Couldn't name a single artist or track, I don't listen to it very often but I think it's pretty fun music!

No, it's very different. If you look up some Hardtek you will see. It's faster and has a kind of Tribe mixed with Frenchcore sound with an added splash of cheese quite often.
Will listen to the clips when I get in. I've heard some stuff before though that is quite Hardcore-ish. Nearer to 90's Happy Hardcore though.

The point is that it s pretty funny to see 2 genres that evoluted independently one from the other, getting musically closer without influencing each other for years! I absolutely dont know how the ukhc i'm speaking about is considerated by you guys, i ve randomly listened to tracks from Gammer, Petruccio etc on youtube and i thought that it was pretty similar in some phases to the actual sound of the hardtek. I don't want to juge any genre, it was just a feeling!
edit: Thumpa haha i was so skinny in that video! Shit :D You just give me the motivation to go to sport to loose my belly!

I'm agree with mat-weasel....Hardtek/Hardfloor and Uk Hardcore are both getting influenced by dubstep (drumstep call it what u want it) and electro and thats what it makes them gettin similar...it is also funny that we call that kind of hardcore dubcore...as well as Hardtek/Hardfloor fan call their style, when influenced by dubstep sound, in the same way sometimes :)
Sometimes i have fun playn b2b with a friends of mine, Baseboy...he plays hardtek/hardfloor on a cdj and I play hardcore on the other and it works fine. :P

I've played a Mat Weasel Busters track at HTID and several times at Ravers Reunited, he's great!
He plays live sets on a Yamaha RS7000 something, totally unique way to play:

that hardtek stuff aint bad tbh.
Never been a fan of Frenchcore to be honest. Only french-cory I like has always been DJ Sharpnel's stuff, but they're always leaning towards the melodic, j-cory stuff.

In fact Hardtek is older than Frenchcore...
Frenchcore is the child of Hardtek and Hardcore when they met in teknival in early 90's. Hardcore producers like Micropoint got influenced by Hardtek, they created the Frenchcore and when the hardtek producers like Maissouille got influenced by Hardcore they created the Tribecore, both thoses genres have this typical "frenchcore kickbass" which is basically an industrial hardcore kick sidechained by a techno kick to keep only the agressive offbeat. :)
