EE is considering doing an album showcasing some of the massive amount of relatively under exposed freeform music on Electronica Exposed and it's various labels. The album idea is this:

- 3xCD Digipack containing 3 DJ mixes of slamming freeform
- 1xBonus DVD featuring all the tracks included in the mixes in .wav format and unmixed for DJ use (40-60 tracks at a guess)

The bonus DVD would be packaged in either a cardboard sleeve or a plastic sleeve with booklet. The album would be limited edition. There would be no download release of the album. No represses either. If there's space on the DVD, the tracks might also be included in .mp3 format too.

The album would probably retail for ?12-15 (GBP) + shipping as a rough ball park figure.

Which is great value for 3 slamming DJ mixes and 40-60 unmixed tracks!

The album would include back catalogue tracks by all the great freeform artists that Electronica Exposed has released including producers like Shanty, Tazz, Carbon Based, Alek Szahala, Cube::Hard, Kevin Energy, A.M.S., Stormtrooper, Darwin, Firefly, Devastate, Invader, Oli G, etc, etc!

If the album sold well, EE would likely do a few more. There's enough great freeform music on Electronica Exposed to warrant more than one freefom album. And there is a possibility of happy hardcore and breakbeat hardcore albums in the future too if this happened and went well.

Due to the costs involved, I'm trying to guage interest to see if doing an album like this is worthwhile...

So what do you all think of this idea and would you buy an album like this?

Please let me know your thoughts! :)

I would definitely by such an album! I would buy as many of these as you could release! If you ask me there can never be enough freeform CDs, and I would like to hear more of the EE backcat that I missed out on.

A bonus DVD with all the unmixed wavs would be amazing. Please do this! Though if you include the wavs, I don't see why you would need to include mp3s as well, since a batch conversion is very fast and easy to do if someone wants mp3s instead.

The only negative for me is the digipack. I'm not a big fan of digipacks, and I don't understand why so many hardcore albums (like those from Hardcore Underground) use them. For me this is because the artwork gets scratched and dented even if I handle it carefully, and the thin plastic on the inside breaks more easily than a jewel case. I've always preferred this type of case for multi-cd albums.

Still, this is a small issue for me wouldn't at all keep me from buying it.

Simply put, I want it and will buy it as soon as it comes out.

Just out of curiosity, would these be exclusive or previously released tracks? Also, would they be pressed CDs or CD-Rs?

Works for me! Unreleased goodies and/or a few new remixes would be a nice touch.

The album would almost certainly be previously released tracks. I might look at new tracks or remixes on future albums, but that would depend on demand.

Manufacturing would be done by a professional company. Not sure whether the discs would be duplicated or replicated, but I certainly won't be burning discs one by one here!

EE did use the plastic triple cases on a number of releases, which are also cool. But right now, I'm more excited about doing a digipack.

The mp3s would be included if there's enough space left on the disc, just to save anyone purchasing the album some time. I have all the files here in .mp3 format and it wouldn't add any extra costs, so it would just be an extra bonus.

CDJay - Please e-mail me! I can't find your e-mail address.

considering a track is never beyond 70MB (unless it's saved in 96KHz or something :P), you could easily fit 60 full length (~6:30 mins) on a 4.3GB DVD

Some of the tracks on the label are over 100mb! But yeah, getting the .wavs on would be no problem. Just a question of getting the .wavs and .mp3s on.

Very interested in this, would definitely buy. Definitely go with a Digipak too, they always feel/look a little more special.

Would the DVD be stamped or burned?

Oh yeah would def be intrested and buy this! the more cd releases the better, and especially something a little more different, and would be good to see more other releases bar hu

I bought hardcore anthems 2010 and 2010 part 2 when you released them and was meant to buy hardcore anthems 2011 but unfortunately I missed out on that one so would be great if something like this got released
