Ok i registered years ago to download a digital version of a tape i had years ago that happened to be the first happy hardcore set i ever owned. I've had many emails snce then etc and a recent one got me to thinking. Is it just professional dj's that upload or do amateurs also use it? From my own perspective i have the greatest amount of respect for dj's and their skills that i do not personally have the same as people who have admirable jobs that are not in my skillset. The reason i like unmixed so much is that i'm able to make my own mixes not by decks although i did have a set years ago but not the skill to use them. I can with some cheap software and a long bloody time do some mixes that don't match professional work but do have the tracks i want in the style i would prefer ro hear in the car. Kidnapping dj brisk would probably be the better option for quality but that's not quite on the cards here is it? So i make do with my modest attempts at doing something for my pure love of the music which brings me back to my original point. Is everyone who uploads considered to be a professional and should someone like myself who isn't skilled in live mixing upload something for the sake of sharing ideas tastes be slandered should others realise that simple software has been used to create the mimic of a studio mix using ?40 software? Or would i as i would hope that people would look at it as a passionate follower of hardcore for 20 years doing something for fun with the thing they love most hoping to be able to share their preferences in a substantial form?

Well for the moment, Mixcloud is for everyone... unless you consider me a professional DJ?

As for the quality of the mixes upload, I don't think there are any requirements, other than getting the permission from the makers of the track, or the label which I presume rarely happens, other than maybe the more known DJ's actually do it.

I really don't know and that is why i'm asking. I would love to upload some of the stuff i have put together but i am worried over copyright for mixed tracks and also like i say coming off as being a twat.

What would you define as "amateur"? Personally I would've considered amateur someone who couldn't beatmatch propperly for at least a stratight hour, back in the day, and one that could (and got paid to do so) "Pro".

...so sing, even if you can't. Melodyne won't hold it against you.

Shit i could be way off here but hell i have no friends in hardcore or dj's in general anymore. I would have thought, amateur would have been someone who couldn't do it live. I mean i can get everything set melody wise and all done for a 90 min mix in about 4 hours but i can't do it on the spot live on decks and the whole idea of mastering everything to sound even afterwards is foreign to me because if it sounds even, that is good enough, that's maybe what i think of as amateur but definately not professional.

I guess i want to put forward what i have done without trying to come off as something i am not.

I for one, would love to hear something from you.

You seem to have decent knowledge of the music and I imagine a rather large collection of tunes.

Haha. That makes DJ Vibes the biggest amatuer then? :P The tales of his beatmatching is underrated... not that I have heard many of his mixes :(

Vladel, so far none of my mixes have been removed or been hit by any copyright claims on either Mixcloud or Soundcloud. I do get them on Youtube (they do have a better system for it) but they only put monotizing on my videos

i remember in the 90's reading an interview with vibes talking about dj's getting stuff wrong on mixes for cd's and staring again without just fixing and editing it to get it right.

from what I understand it's because nowadays they are lazy and don't want to learn how to use audio editors :P

Back then it wasn't that easy I guess

Ok people of the internet here goes, if i had ever done a mix that i thought i might share with others is my happy hardcore remixes/bootlegs mix. There are no words to describe how scary this is for me but i think in terms of mixing, this is one of the better things i have done in terms of tracks fitting together and working as a whole. I normally hate HHC remixes but i thought i might make a mix of the ones i like. Gonna go to bed while i still have the courage, let me know etc!

Btw i don't really worry about mastering, it's something i don't have software for so i do it by ear and hope it is ok.

cheers mister! I imagine folk would get pissed off with newly released stuff from big names at a guess but i've noticed a lot of people upload and mustn't check with people otherwise it wouldn't be worth the effort. I reckon some of the smaller producers would be happy for the exposure with tracks people haven't heard before because basically it's free advertising.

It's a very odd thing.
