There's a fundraiser running at the moment on Facebook, this guys nephew has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and he's selling off quite a few signed dubplates/acetates

https://www.facebook.com/The-hardcore-fundraiser-501918423326194/

Here's what's on there:

DJ Sy - Cheddar III (Signed)
Scott Brown - Now is the Time (Signed & Framed)
Hixxy - War of the Worlds alternate intro unreleased b/w Sharkey Can, Can You Do It (Signed)
Hixxy - Warehouse b/w X=Y (Signed)
Sharkey & Marc Smith - Oh No (Signed)
Hixxy - Lullaby (Signed)
Hixxy & Sharkey - Toytown (Unreleased 96 Mix) b/w United Dance Mix (Signed)
DJ Druid - The Flow (Signed)
Hixxy - Thumper (Signed)

It's a bidding thing and bidding closes in two weeks (20th), most of these are currently around ?30-40. I quite fancy a bid myself even though I'm fairly sure my Traktor controller won't play a 10 inch dub

I'm really interested in the dubplate culture but there doesn't seem to be a great amount of information recorded about it aside from the odd bit here and there from interviews. What mechanism did DJs use to trade them? Hand each other DATs at raves? Hand them the dubs? They were pretty expensive too, so like ?50 a disc or something, were the top tier playing mostly dubs all the time? So many questions....

I Wish i can donate! the moment i get some cash in i will! is there a fundraiser page for him (An indiegogo or a gofundme?) But on the dubplates topic, Dj's would trade them at raves and the top tier dj's would play them out. dubplates are still expensive to this day. i get a few cut not too long ago and it was 50 dollars (american) for 1 tune. hella expensive but i say its worth it.

I asked if he did and this was the reply -

"Hi. Thank you for sharing :).
I have no funding page set up. But thank the person for the kind thought. It might be worth grabbing a piece of memorabilia"
