Now I still love Hardcore, I have done for years but lately I have really been leaning towards Hard House. Mostly the older stuff from the early 2000s and I am going through Youtube finding stuff I never even heard before.
I actually always did have a soft spot for Hard House, it was similar to Hardcore in some ways but it is less about the harder stuff like the hard kick and the beaks and more focused on he energy.
One thing I have noticed with Hard House is that it did at one time borrow a lot from the early 90s rave anthems, more so the hoovers rather than the pianos and some of it is comparable to the old Belgium stuff.

I still go back every now & again and go through my old hard house collection as it was listening to a Tony De Vit set back in '96 that got me into Hard House originally and as the years went on also into listening to Hardcore & D&B.
Barely a week went by way back in the day when I wasn't picking up a 12" from Tidy, Nukleuz, Tripoli, etc or one of the other many labels at the time.
I'm still not sure how I survived the late '90's with regular trips to nights like Trade at Turnmills and then trying to get back from London late on a Sunday ready for work on Monday :)

I have listened to a lot of Nukleuz on Youtube, they have whole albums uploaded on there. Tidy is as the name suggests, just tidy. When you look at those two labels and then compare them to the likes of Raverbaby or Quosh at the same time then you could see which ones where pulling out gold while the others where just pushing out crap.
Got some Lisa Lashes on right now, she certainly puts some men to shame!

Nice! I haven't listened to much (if any) hard house at all, so it's nice to get a feel for it. It does sound similar to oldschool rave. Feel like it could use more piano though ;)

Administrators should move this topic to 'Other Genres'. Where's the admin!?? LOL
yeah but seriously Hardhouse is alright sometimes. I find it lacks the 'heartwarming sounds' you find in Trance music, Hardhouse is all about the energy yes. it's not exactly music for 'relaxation' listening time. I used to listen to some tunes like "The Dawn" - Tony De Vit. that are ok but will never quite give me the feeling I get when I listen to a Hardkore set.!
Hardhouse is also a precursor of 'Hardstyle'. early Hardstyle derived and borrowed pretty much everything from the HardHouse scene. Virtually until the Euphoric HardTrance kicks became intertwined into the later Hardstyle sounds used especially by Showtek, and Brennan Heart etc.

you mean it's similar to today's hardcore because of the lack of melody? :P
