What a wicked time that was... For some unrelated reason the cinema had a gamechanger hashtag on the screens on arrival which was quite amusing. We had a few drinks in the foyer and then people went into screen 5. And we waited, and waited, and waited for drinks, delayed the start... and they waited for us! <3
Anyway, got seated and it started, it was a weird situation to be honest, wasn't really sure how it would feel, in a cinema, but in a rave, but in a seat. but anyway, we danced and bobbed around and put our hands up, I don't know if everyone else was doing that but we'd had more than a few drinks down us.
What's it like? Awesome to be quite honest. The camera work is amazing and it has that film like quality that I don't really know how to describe. The colours are fantastic. You've seen me moan on about the USA's love for excessive kandi so I was expecting to be a bit grumbly about that but it comes across so well, the colours really pop. It sounds awesome too, by now we're familiar with most of the tunes but there's a couple of lesser heard tunes in there, the remix of let me in is fantastic and there's a wicked gabberesque rework of Chwhynny & Darwins nothing there to close it off.
I met robertybob! Sorry dude, I can't really remember much but I believe you were on board with berating Dain-ja's lack of release of ordinary ways remix. :D
Super pleased with how it's turned out - obviously it's been plagued with issues throughout but the end result is something that I think HU and everyone involved can be really proud of. I'm proud to be a backer.

Was nice to meet you too mate, you look better than your profile pic ;) haha.
I first tweeted Pascal about 4 years ago regarding that track so I'm glad I wasn't the only one who'd been harassing him for it!
The audio and visuals were amazing (better than I'll ever experience watching it at home) so I'm glad I went. I was disappointed that more people didn't bother to attend, but everyone who did go enjoyed it.
MC Enemy made me cringe - "I say ____, you say _____" , so original.. but then again I don't think I'll ever be a fan of MCs so I don't think he'll be an issue for most people watching it.
The mixing was spot on and Meron Ryan sounded brilliant live, can't believe more artists aren't using her for their tracks! Chwhynny was great too!

To be fair, we didn't really chase too many people to attend because we didn't want to oversell. Then, the week of the premiere, we realised they'd put us in a screen with a Barco DP2K-20CLP. A quick glance at that model number will clue you into the problem
Gaz shouted a lot, and late Wednesday they upgraded us to Screen 5 (from Screen 3) which meant the seat count went up by 64. It netted us a Barco DP4K-22L RBG Laser projector which is vastly superior. We also made the decision to screen separately for the press (psychologically, we wanted to be able to enjoy it with our crew rather than sit there nervously appraising disinterested press types) .We toyed with running around last minute trying to offer people seats etc but it seemed unfair on the people who had already supported and frankly it was nice to have the room.
I thought it went really well; the DCP wasn't flawless (we had something turn up in QC that I couldn't actually see even when I was looking for it at the screening, to do with framing, and the audio export was an older version with some level issues versus the final). Luckily we got the DCP unencrypted so I can likely hack the updated audio and video in myself before the Stateside screening.
As bizarre as it may sound, to those who attended, even though we insisted on laser projection it was largely due to superior black level detail and colour accuracy with 300nits graded content; the actual UHD Rec2020 1000nits Blu-ray grade will have better colour, deep black and peak light output compared to the DCI-P3 grade if played back on a higher end 4k TV. Or indeed a mid range 4k TV within a year or two.
The fact we actually pulled it off is faintly surprising, even to me. Still, we're faintly expert in the entire chain of video production/reproduction stuff now.
Thanks to those who attended, it was great to share the end result with you before it hits the general populous. I know it's been a long, long road but sometimes you get halfway and think "nah, the summit is only up there. We can do it!"

Don't worry I don't really understand video stuff, all I know is the picture quality was amazing. You felt like you were there, like you could almost smell the boob sweat, especially when the camera was amongst the crowd.
