track seems a bit heavy on the techno side to be considered hardcore imo, back in the day, would a track like this of gotten played along with the breakbeat hardcore, or was this style in sets of itself?

Interesting points. It is not a Breakbeat tune and no breaks whatsoever but it borrows some of the elements used in Breakbeat tracks. It also seems to sample Problem House - Party People for that noisy riff which I like. It is from 1993 and could have fitted in a number of sets unless you where playing just Jungle which was becoming dark and moody at that time
