anyone know if the yamaha djx 1 or 2 are any good ?
i'm not sure if i'm gonna be using it for vsti's or just for the sampler yet till i have a play & find out what it can do.
i'm not up on technical jargon, so please keep your answers simple i haven't played the keyboard for years lol

Not sure the Yamaha DJX keyboards are there best line tbh. I wouild say you could spend your money more wisely.
If money an issue then maybe have a look at the Roland SH202 (based on the original SH101) or Novations Xio. If second hand is not for you

It depends entirely on the sound you want. A Juno 106 is good if your looking to learn how to program synths, because all the controllers are there in front of you, its simple.
If your after the current Trance sound in Hardcore though it won't help you much. But then i personally would choose a Juno 106 sound over that any day.
If it's just a keyboard your after, and not a synth, then you can just get a midi controller for around £100, less in fact :)

just google them have a look
and go to the websites and listen to the demo's
more knobs on the face of the synth normaly mean that it is easyer to program as you dont have to navigate through so many menu's on screens
i would say save up and get a ti if you are serious easy to work out of the box and as complicated as you want to make it

For the price of a Juno 106, you can get a Roland JP8000, which is an excellent synth indeed. Again, all the controllers are there in front of you so it's very untuitive. More to the point though, it is the definint point of the Trance sound (which Hardcore now uses alot, so it's just as relevant here). Apart from the Access Virus it's the most widely used synth for Trance lead, and can be heard on very many 1999 classics. Scott Brown uses it himself if you want an example of who uses it in Hardcore. Ferry Corsten used it all the time.
They sell for around £350-450. There is a rack version too which is the JP8080, but as far as i know it dosn't sound as nice as the JP8000, but does have unison mode unlike the JP8000. The JP8080 will always cost slightly less than the JP8000.
For the money if that is the sound you are going for there is no better synth you can get.

The Virus TI is also more than twice the price a JP8000 :P That is the point. The Virus is more versatile but the JP8000 is just as good for what it does, it just does less. I personally prefer Trance leads from a JP8000 than a Virus anyday :P

I think you mean midi interface, in which case yes, they most definately do. That's assuming you want to send midi data to them from your sequencer though so that you don't need to play it yourself. If you just plan on actually playing it and not using it like you would a VSTi, then you don't need a midi interface no.
They don't cost alot though, you can get them for £6.99 here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Midi-Cable_W0QQitemZ300096106575QQcategoryZ3668QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem But you only need one of those if you want to controll the synth with your sequencer.

screw it, save your money.
Get a nice 61 key midi control (I have the m-audio radium 61) and play with VSTis.
Hardware isn't what it used to be and most of the time its just for show.
Software studios are the future!!
