i need a computer program which i can record my mixes straight on to my lap top. is there any ones i can download of the net ????

If it helps Windows media encoder is free (download from microsogt) but only saves wma.

i would recommend you use sony sound forge, i have tried a few programs but found that to give the best quality recording

I use Audacity or Cubase - I've heard that Audacity is a bit unstable and people have ended up losing recordings so I try to stick with Cubase now - Soundforge is also good though, I just find controlling it a pain!

I use sony soundforge 7, and gonna switch to soundforge 8 when I get my new laptop, I would rather use cubase (which I have) but can't figure out how to make the damm thing record from the line in, (I'm crap with cubase) anybody help?

Mine's plugged in to the mic socket and I just add an audio track and click record - where exactly are you having problems? Can you see the volume of what's coming through the line-in in the bottom right?
