I am sure I want to start DJing my only problem is I dont have enough money to buy all the gear I need Would it be stupid if I just bought for example one CD

I am sure I want to start DJing, my only problem is I don't have enough money to buy all the gear I need.

Would it be stupid if I just bought for example one CD player or one turntable and practiced beat matching to say a stereo until I can afford another deck?

Any other good ideas?

Afraid not mate, tho i can see where your coming from im sure people will agree and maby some will disagree, you wouldn't be able to do the E.Q or the basic mix from left to right and vise verser BUT im sure if you got a part time job or something or ask for them on a B-Day or something, to learn the skills of mixing you will need the mixing basics to be honest with you.

a decent set of decks are that cheap nowadays that id just hold out till you can afford decks and mixer. £280 will get you two brand new decks and a mixer good enough to last you till you need technics to go that step further

I was informed that it would be better to hold out and save up for Technics as then I wouldn't have to upgrade or buy again.

What decks and/or mixer do you recommend in the price range you suggested?

if your that strapped for cash, why not try a virtual dj software first, at least then, when you've mixed a couple of cd's you'll know for sure whether you want to spend the money getting the real deal. just remember it's not just the decks you gotta buy, most of your money will be spent on vinyl/cd's for whichever decks you want to get.

virtual dj's are nothing like the real deal of course but beats paying £280+ on a pipe dream & selling them 2 months down the line.

I'm really not interested in software DJing, I want to be hands on with the mix, if you know what I mean.

I'd definitely agree with that, if you're serious about it and no its not gonna be a phase you go through its your best bet.

Getting vinyl decks and if possible a copy of final scratch or something will give you all you need to have any tunes new or old, digital or vinyl.

Definitely something i want.

Also anno is money but try and save up and buy a large collection of someone, to get you started is important to have a fair collection you like imo.

Some people say to keep practicing the same vinyls, i do agree in theory but if your anything like me listening to the same tracks over and over will burst your brain. Getting a collection second hand will give you a lot to practice with, then you can just have fun learning and take your time with it. Is a lot cheaper than buying seperate vinyls and if you get a good enough bargain, can sell a few and almost pay for all the rest.
