can usualy get it pretty much perfect after 8 bars of the track dropping in... usually let it play till after the second break and then drop the next track... but i could drop it after the 1st break if the tracks went well together!
but saying that, it takes a few mixes to warm up

For me if I'm mixing a track that's got a straight 4/4 kick where I'm cueing from It's normally in the first bar or so, if it has a hi-hat pattern without a kick for example then it usually takes a little longer, dunno why must just be my ears :D
It's something that just gets quicker the longer you've been doing it I imagine, been DJ'ing for just over 2 years.

its just practice, after a while beatmatching most of the time becomes a 'no brainer' and can be done really fast. Its just like driving a manual car, after a while you just do it and dont think about it.
There isnt a set time that you should be able to do it in, you will get faster as you get more comfortable and the faster you are the more creative things you can do!

May as well say my bit seeing as this has been pulled out the archive,
First dexx i had (audiotech or somethin like that)(belt driven) NEVER, they were RUBBISH
Then soundlab belt drives, again rarely a good beatmatch, constantly pushin or nipping
Then kam belt drives, much better quality dexx, within about 0.2% within 32-64 beats,
Now running 1210 mk5s and its easy to nail a perfect match within the same time,
I also noticed after about 7 years playing house/trance(130-140bpm) Matching hardcore beats has become a piece of cheese, the slower the music, the longer it takes to 'match' perfectly
It really depends on the quality of the dexx u are playing although back in 97 i had a lot of bother trying to beatmatch 'distorted' beats like the old "Antisocial" stuff on essential platinum.
