As the title says.

I've got 2 bassline layers, 2 lead layers, 2 layered kicks.

Yes but how do I add more energy and make it sound more uplifting and make people wanna dance to it.

PS: I don't know much so yeh...

Yeh. Not too good at making me own melodies but say I was doing a remix. How would I make it more energy and what should I do in a remix?

If what you're remixing doesn't have much energy you're going to have to add an extra riff, which means writing one. ;)

I find having a riff that doesn't go right up high on the frequency range (without drowning the hats!) can kill the energy. You could either layer in another, higher layer for the riff (if you haven't already) or write an arp, an acid line or something that goes with the main riff and sits high in the frequency range...

It's hard to help without a sample. :)

One of the things I like to do is add a lot of short synthy stabs mixed in with the percussion, this raises energy levels in the beat. e.g:

Another way of maximizing energy is to use a long buildup before the main drop, Dj Kurt is an expert at this.

i got into producing recently, and assuming you aren't doing this, harmonizing notes makes a track sound much better in my opinion.

for example, instead of playing just a C, try C+G at the same time, and arpeggiate however you want.

i'm not sure if this is the "energy" you were looking for, but that's my two cents coming from someone with a week of production knowlege and 5 years of piano lessons.

You need to add some groove to the track.

EDM normally has a rock-solid beat (such as a 4/4 kick in UK hardcore). This is important for making the track mixable etc. However underneath this you can add some extra percussion or melodic parts which aren't so strict in their timing. I.e sometimes they are slightly ahead of the beat, sometimes slightly behind the beat.

This makes the music 'breathe' and adds groove. One such example is the Amen break: I'm not saying you should go and loop the Amen break 100x on your track, but you could use it as a starting point.

Or you could try adding a second tune into the track.? Sometimes if u get the right sounds a variation of the main tune only with the last 4 beats changd or even a delay between the 2 diffrent tune,

Just mess about with diffrent things? sometimes i take my bassline open a new device and instead of having the pattern like _ _ _ _ for the bass Make it _____ and move it to the top of the piano roll. This can sound good too in a track

- - - - <-- Notes in Piano Roll

_____<- Hold key solid

do this for your bassline piano roll ontop of the _ _ _ bass.

If u get what i mean lol
