The process of creating a good bass/melody cannot be simply explained, if that were possible everyone would be making slammers on a weekly basis.

The only way to learn is to keep listening to the tracks you like until you understand WHY they sound the way they do. Listen to tracks by production wizards such as Scott Brown or Dj Kurt and concentrate on a single element of the track, eg bass and see if you can reproduce it in FLstudio. That way you'll learn about timing, Equalisation, etc. Thats what I did :)

just muck around with layers of different vst's and samles till you find something that you like.

for the bassline you need to use detuned saw waves & layer either a sine wave under it to give it some ooommmfff or a 303 acid then add effects like distortion/overdrive

the lead all depends what your going for, open 3 vst's like predator, zeta, v-station pick 3 leads you like & layer them together & tweak till they fit together nicely, helps to have them on different octaves to make the lead sound fuller ie one low, one mid range & one high

hope that helps a little vague maybe but should put you on the right track

Or keep it simple, take a Hypersaw (short synth section), 3/4 Soundgoodizer, put a kick at the beginning of each note and synchronize (put on the off beat) bass notes with it. Gogogo.

Sometimes people like to get complicated, but it takes hardly anything to make a great sounding bassline with as few tools as a kick, a hihat, a snare, and a short synth instrument or bass instrument.
