Hey,
In a hardcore mix, is there any point of sidechaining so that the kick cuts through the bass?
As the bass is on the offbeat and the bass is on the beat anyway I would have thought that there would be a perfect gap for the kick to cut through :/
Also can anyone give me any other things that may sound good or better when sidechained together. I don't want to overdo it, but I'm not sure which tracks would work together.

It's not just to create space. It can make some nice effects if used right.

Dont bother sidechaning Kick to bass but sidchain a stabbing riff to the kick and you will get a wicked sound

its totally key! I use two bass lines, and different release so the sub bass kicks in after the other bass comes in an octave higher on another synth.
It makes that ooOOOOMMPH, effect that some basslines have,
