What make's cubase so much better than programs like FL? Is it just because the pro's use it, or is it something else?

good thing about cubase is you can freeze the vst's, so if your computer is struggling to run them all at the same time, not sure if you can do this in fruity,
I just got FL8 but i don't like it, Don't like the way its set out, lol think im just too used to reason 4.0, best thing is to try them all, see what you prefer using

its probably the best in a studio set up. thats mabey why they use it, its kind of like the industry standard, just like 1210's are the industry standard decks or pionner djm mixers. same with software really,

I used FL for years and use Cubase now
It's just much more capable. Everything from the stability of the app to the quality of the plugins, the precision of the sequencer (how accurately you can move things on the timeline). FL works fine but Cubase is far more capable, especially when it comes to editing and routing.
Having used both, I think if you haven't gotten used to FL learn Cubase while it's still early in the game. The only thing more complicated to do is working with percussion samples since you don't have a built in sampler...but you get used to it quickly.

Dito!
The reason Cubase is industry standard really simple...
Stringberg (The creatures of Cubase) are the pioneers who invented the very way of life that we all call "VST"- (Virtual Studio Technology) – Without this innovation – the likes of FL, Reason and many other DAW on the market would never of exited in the first place.
That is why Stingberg continues to be number one for electronic based audio production and continues to innovate the industry with live and breathe.
Cubase 4.1 is currently the number one Digtial Audio Workstation in the market, followed in close competition with Apples Logic DAW.
There’s also Protools, but this is considered to be in a completely different league to the above as it is favoured more by the recording industry.
Below that are all these very small independent companies that create titles such as FL, Reason ect... These applications, while great for vaule, are not as equipped as the above! Many of them don’t even used 32bit (float) technology – which in this day and age is an essential ingredient for SPACE... and none destructive precision engineering during mixdown.
I purchased a licensed version of Cubase 4 (The Full package) in 2007 and have never look back!!

Audio engines of major audio apps have been of practically the same quality for some time now. Cubase, Logic, Live!, Sonar, FL, Reason, Orion, Ardour, Reaper and some more - they're all perfectly capable of high quality mixing and they have an immense set of features.
Anyone who's trying to claim that your DAW of choice is inferior is talking shit. It's all about picking the workflow you prefer and the feel you like - and making music.
Cubase is the studio standard, sure - but in the era of amazing music made at home on really so-so setups you can use whatever you like to devastating effect. :)
