I'm buying a Laptop in May, so I would say IBM Think Pad (Can't afford a Mac ) if I can find a good price on Ebay, but maybe a decent Toshiba will do for Recording??? What do you use for a Right Clicker???

i had a toshiba one before the one i bought, i have no beef with it. it never failed me once.

i was rough on it, so the plastic has deteriorated a little, but as far as functionality goes, it was amazing.

i would look into an external soundcard, most onboard soundcards in laptops are shyte and don't record with a nice sound.

lenovo(IBMs brand) is a little more expensive, but that's what all the teachers use at my school and i think the lid is made from titanium. they can be a little pricier and have a light for the keyboard so that is a really nice feature.

they both wouldn't be bad choices. if money was no object, i'd go with the lenovo one because i haven't had any experience with them and i used to have a toshiba before.

most laptops also have a right-clicker as you so aptly named it. my old toshiba one did, and the new toshiba one my maa' just bought also has a right clicker, so you shouldn't have problems with that.

with my mac, you just have to put two fingers on the tracking pad and click for the right clicker.

the only thing i can think that is weird with lenovo (and this isn't even on all of them), is that there is a red dot in the middle of the keyboard that you can use as a mouse. i always thought that was a little irritating.

but i think that comes as a secondary mouse input to the actual tracking pad. i never liked them myself. i don't know if there are any that come exclusively with that little dot, but it's worth checking before you buy.

It's called a pointing stick or trackpoint. They're becoming less and less common, probably because touchpads are superior to them.

And I'd have to agree with Jax, I've had an A+ experience with HP too.
