If you could sum up the hardcore scene right now, what would you say and why?

Uhm... other than everyone hating everyone else? :P
Well I cant say it has changed much, other than Mark Breeze is trying to create a new Raver Baby with his label. but the biggest news gotta be Bananaman (and maybe Fade( has come back into the scene.

lol I was thinking the same thing. It is probably one of the more surprising news really, but definitely not the biggest.

Well the scenes still alive and well, so I'd say hardcore is doing just fine.

I don't think it was an entire flop. His productions gradually got a bit better before the end of the year. His return definitely did not live up to the ridiculous hype that people on here gave him. He's been gone for over a decade I don't know how ppl thought he was gonna come out full-blast with some incredibly mind-blowing tune.

A lot of younger ones or those new to the scene might not know his tunes well enough to appreciate his return. I loved his happy hardcore, but to be honest I wasn't expecting any major new tunes all of a sudden, or a bunch of 96/97 style tracks. I personally would welcome a full time return to that style but I'm sure many wouldn't.
I think Vinylgroover announcing he was thinking of doing a hardcore track or two generated more hype.

One word - Promising.
Lots of variety around right now, with something for everyone.
The curse of 'disappointingdropcore' is still lingering but there's so much happening right now.
I was really impressed with what Gammer said on the HU podcast, had a lot more impact on me than a lot of the 'haterz etc etc' comments I've heard recently.

The stuff he said about his mixing struck me as comical though. "I've never been technical for the sake of being technical" etc. when that's exactly what he's paid for.

I think time will tell with this. He's just launched J4J with Gisbo, so we'll see how his productions fair.

Unfortunately, the disappointing drops have migrated to Freeform. They're trying to push themselves as a genre, but the apple never falls far from the tree.
Hardcore I think is moving in the right direction. Bigger producers have stripped it down and are rebuilding it, which is what it needed. Darren Styles I think has had the biggest year. Unfortunately Gammer continues his lazy productions, but I think his time in the limelight has passed - and not a moment too soon either.

The problem is that he's not producing his own tracks. So we aren't hearing Bananaman, we are hearing Gisbo.

He's not payed to be technical though. He's payed to mix. You must surely know what he meant.

That one is much better than the others I've heard. Good vocal.
