any of the battle packs as long as they are direct drive will be great for starting out they'll keep your starting prices down, give you everything you need to get started and leave you with some money for vinyl after.
I think some people on here are forgetting that your just getting started with it. - the lower end numarks are not going to feel great, of course thats why they are lower end.

Okay, me being 17 and unemployed my parents most likely won't let me get anything over $200... so here was my idea...
http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_DJ%20In%20A%20Box%20V6%20Turntable%20Package_-1_10052_10002_-49965747_cmCategorySA182609 I can even help pitch in since I have a crap load of money still from my B-Day... :D So what do you guys think, it's not that Battle Pak 4... but $400 will be pushing it for my parents...

its all to do with what and how the platter is powered (the disc which your vinyl sits on to spin)
belt drive = oversized rubber band that fits all the way around the deck plate and back to a small motor the other side of the turntable (think of a wristwatch powered by a hairscrunchie insted of powerful cogs)
your rubber band snaps - no more spinning for you without waiting for a new one to arrive once you've ordered it from online.
and thats before you even get to the mixing - the torques useless - meaning you slow that platter down with your hand not only will it grind it to a hault - but that also puts a shed load of wear-and tear on the ol rubber band = snappage.
once you've tapped the record to slow it down its gonna take longer than usual to pick back up again...
now direct drive is a strong motor thats fixed right underneath the platter and is driving the platter directly (depending on how the deck is made), no rubber bands or hair scrunchies to go snap.
whilst you pay a little more for the DD turntable, it pays off, because you dont end up throwing them out the window in a fit of rage.
DJing isnt cheap - and at the start whilst you dont have to get the best-of-the-best its still best to spend a little more and get at least direct drives.

considering one of my technics sl1200's is 17 years old, and the other one is 19, i would have to honestly tell you that i cannot remember what it is like to play on anything lesser than a technics turntable. so, for what it's worth, i will tell you what not to do if you choose not to read the entire thread before asking the same questions as the original poster. buy what you can afford.

well first off - thats a portible turntable.....it doesnt even have a pitch fader..so you wouldnt be able to change the tempo of the tracks your DJin..
thus you wouldnt be able to mix.
if you cant push $200, your not going to find direct drives and should either
1: wait until you can afford them,
or
2: buy the belt drive package you were looking at originally.
if you can find a complete direct drive package on ebay for that price, they are probably broken.

That wouldnt do too bad mate, for a beginner its pretty decent. I think as you find out more about the better products out there you'l change your mind about them. My best advice would be to go around and search, dont stick to one have a look at a few and compare them. with the TT's MAKE SURE!!!!!!!! they are direct drive and not belt driven.

Yes, you need 2 :P Otherwise you wouldn't be able to mix tunes together! Pretty vital to be able to do that when you're mixing.
Save up some cash and buy some second hand 1210's off someone. You'll only end up paying for another set of decks a year or two down the road if you don't get them now. You may well only have £200 to spend but the fact of the matter is it's just not enough for some decent, useable equipment.
