I kid you not. On the 25th October, React left an update on their site saying they were coming back, and have since been releasing music as part of a mini re-launch. It's all be purchased back by original owners.

It's interesting, since it throws open so many questions ~ particularly it's involvement with the current Hardcore scene. The biggest question we'll all have is whether they'll look into a re-launch of the Bonkers series?

No they bought a licensing for one album from I believe Sharkey.

Very interesting news. Did we ever find out which album exactly was the tipping point of React bankruptcy??? It definitely was not Bonkers 17.

I'm more concerned if they did manage to bring Bonkers back, who will they want mixing it???

I wonder if they can eve get back their backcat. Doesnt some american company own it now? Atleast I know they are still screwing over Brisk on the Next Generation albums (which React/Resist reelased).

quote:
On the 24th June 2004 React's James Horrocks and Melissa Kemp purchased the React Music brand, trademark and recordings catalog, they continue to operate it to the present day via React Music. Resist Music was set up in 2005 to release compilations. It was purchased in Sep 2009 by Phoenix Music International and is now a non related entity.

No wonder they screwed with Brisk, they sold the rights to someone else, but based on this, React never dissapeared?

Interesting... same people as well :)

"James Horrocks and Melissa Kemp are still at the controls too."

They must have bought the rights back from the bank because their releases section lists all their previous releases.

Hmm maybe they are already in the process of redistributing old Bonkers albums?

I just remembered that I have a $5USD off coupon for anything at Best Buy, a major electronic retailer here in the US. I checked out what UK hardcore cds were available, and put in a search for Bonkers and found that so many of them were available! They're listed as backordered, but it could be significant with the resurrection of React.

When I originally ordered a couple of albums from there months almost a year ago I never noticed Bonkers being available at all.

A new bonkers cd sounds great in theory, but when I think about it I'm struggling to think who could mix it at this moment in time

Hixxy, Styles and Breeze are all out of the picture because of CLXH
Re-Con would be far too busy with other projects to mix a bonkers cd
It seems like every other dj I can think of has either recently made an artist album or is in the process of making one. Either that or they've recently been involved in mixing other compilation cd's. For example Marc Smith, Joey Riot/Kurt have released albums. Dougal/Gammer album is forthcoming as is Brisk. And we have Scott Brown, Al Storm, Fracus/Darwin etc who've just done one HU compilation. With Klubfiller, Chris Fear, Scar, Unknown etc doing another.
That basically covers all the top dj's in the scene. I know this is a purely speculative topic but at this time all bases are covered without any need for a new bonkers cd.

I think saying these people are too busy to do a mix CD is a little presumptuous

I only said re-con would be too busy, a fair assumption seeing as he's also involved in other genres which he makes a hell of a lot more money out of.

The rest wouldn't be too busy I imagine, but can't really see the point in any of them mixing a bonkers when most of their latest tunes are on their respective albums/compilations. That's not to say there wouldn't be a point in say 6 months, but it all depends on how things are going at that stage with regards to compilation cd's. There's no gap in the current market that I can see.

DJ Sy! A 'Classics' mix, of course.

Good point! Especially given HU's vision and intent this year!
