1. What? They engineered the sounds to fit together nicely. What are you on about? They didn't just play a special Sy & Unknown piano to make a Sy & Unknown frequency.

2. I never called you thick. And I was being silly. :P

3. No it wasn't. I replied first, then added the actual reply. Then I edited one more time to fix a typo of my own. ;)

Not Necessarily
It means shit in engineering terms! - You'd be surprised!
Give it a few years - and you'll understand ;)

Sure taking you're argument you can engineer a lot of things badly, but engineering isnt about how much you do of it, its about how WELL you do it.

Yes engineering is hard! - THATS THE F*CKING POINT!

but if you really understood how it worked then you'd understand that alot of UK hardcore tracks [Sy, Unknown & scott brown comes to mind] have generally nothing in them to engineer in the first place!

Ok - I’ll explain this in baby terms!

get a baseline with a fundamental frequency (we'll call it FF) of 90hz [nice bass ;)]
and then a piano with a FF of 950hz [then theres overtones – but we ent got time for that]

^^^ put them together ^^^^
and do you think you'd have a problem with the mix down?
Answer: NOOO!

Now lets get your typical UK hardcore track
Kick, Bass [both with a low release], Lead Synth and few FXs here and there [*yawns*]

^^^^ not really "mind blowing" is it

Please don't let me get technical on your ass... because ill have post a sample of a watered down track and then have to lay out a grid of all the sounds and instruments used - and what Frequencies they originally produces [dry signals] and then what they now produce after being engineered [in which you'll find they’ve only been modified a tiny tiny bit - as the sound generally fitting nice into place in the first place]

.Wrong again – the key with engineering is “less = more” Do too much to it and you’ll have a shite mix!

And that’s advice coming from some of the worlds top producers from around the world - each in different industry!

If you so "professional" mate - you'd know that

Inflex – IT WOULD DEPEND WHAT NOTE YOU PLAYED!
A grand piano has around 81 F*CKING KEYS each with a different FUNDAMENTAL FREQUENCY
And a Vocalists has around the SAME!!! [not the mention overtones]

*bangs head against a brick wall*

Oh My Lie - Can It Get Any Worse

Have you not though about WHY people engineer stuff to be simple

BECAUSE “SIMPLE SELLS!"
Therefore – YES!!! they would do it "PROFESSIONALLY!"

oh my Life!!!!

The Sk8SiM Evaluation!
Of this complete Pile Of Wank! [the debate - not tune ;)]

Engineering isn’t easy – but for a “professional” – UK Hardcore is a pot of piss!
Same as Electro, Nu skool Breaks and alot of other watered down music.
Its like trying to compare Nu skool rave - to Rave Breaks!

However…
Freeform hardcore, Psy, Anthem Trance – Different ball game!
Talented - More in - and in turn... Have gotten more out!

Listen - i can understand your biased-ness - but i produce/engineer almost every last style of electronic music [and study them ofcource.] and have been networking in each of the different industries for years.

I have great production/engineering/sound physics knowledge
You... as proven above - clearly do not! [you may know alot... but your no pro mate!]

I'm a businessman and have worked and studied within the music industry and know JUST HOW IT WORKS!!!
[you - clearly do not]

And All i'm saying is:
UK hardcore isn't as watered down as say electro house... but its still watered down!
compare UK Hardcore to Freeform hardcore - then you have a different case to fight!
FREEFORM IS WHAT YOU CALL GREAT ENGINEERING!
So basically as you can see - your post above was pointless!!! There was no need for it!

p.s. "if you reply in the manner you did before… then I will reply in the manner I did above!” – GROW UP – AND LEARN TO BE CIVIL!

Thank You.

Dude you dont get it. I said myself that its not about how much you do, its how well you do it. You also said mastering is hard... which is also what i said. I never said hardcore was the hardest thing to master. I never said that. I never slammed freeform or anything like that so ive got no idea why your jumping down my throat.

You contradict yourself a bit. And believe me dude im not arrogant, im sorry you got that feeling from me, but you can ask bulbs or leto (theyre about the ones here that know me the best) im not an arrogant guy.

I agree with you there are much harder genres to master than hardcore. My only point was that its not easy in the first place. Thats all i said. just chill dude is not like i threatened to come kill your family. geez. You need to relax a bit ey, take some deep breaths.

i wasnt having a go at anybody the only thing i tried to do was give good feedback and since then i got slammed for it.

Also sk8ism your a nobody. Realise this. Im a nobody too but at least i admit it.

And you know what? you just made me hate hhc.com enough to never come back. But instead of disappearing im sticking around for the people that actually WANT my advice.

but sk8ism... dude... seriously, if your going to attack someone you dont know, brand them as arrogant from a couple of posts on a website then you've got some serious mental issues and i genuinely hope you sort them out.

Hey - i like being a nobody
I just write music for other people - let them get shit on!
while in the meantime - I'm in the background making a shed load of money for the same job

^^^ Besides from that I'm happy with the way my life is going at the min... I don't wanna be bogged down with the music all the time... this year is simply about getting my life on a stable path with a job, place and studio ect ect!
then next year - I'll start bridging gaps... and getting stuff down [abit at a time]
then the year after is where you'll start hearing more from me abit more!

So in a sense ^^^ agreeing with one statement you originally said - "never get ahead of yourself" - Too right mate!
As the saying goes: "Never Run, Before You Can Walk"

But Well said though influx! - i think we just have mixed opinions and abit of confusion going on... but we both have vailed points... and generally were talking on the same wavelength to begin with....

So to sum up...
Infulx is a nobody and Sk8SiM had mental heath issues
^^^ sounds good to me

I've just come out the shower and totally realized how much of an arse I've been... So i Apologise...

Right, I'm off out on the piss...
Have A Great Weekend Guys
Take Care

I am pleased that in general my work has gone down well, hopefully ill be good enough to consider getting pressings, of my works, made in a year or so, if I keep at it.

why does everyone have to get so high and mighty about this?

the guy wants feedback, and people are giving it... a person can know absolutely nothing technical about music production and still give helpful feedback.

in case some of you forgot, the point is for it to sound good, and while there's scientific and technical aspects that are important to understand, the end sound is what matters, and anyone with ears can give their opinion on that.

and just because someone isnt a producer themselves doesn't mean shit. hardcore tunes are made to be mixed, and a dj can have just as applicable comments as a producer can, because in the end, it's the dj who plays it. if there were no djs, producers would have no job. a track can be engineered amazingly, but if it's shit to mix, it doesn't really fulfill its purpose, now does it?

and an edit, after having listened to the track

i like it! someone said somewhere about varying the fx you used, i agree 100% with that. overall it's really pretty good though, can't wait to hear the end product.

fair play to you ben, thats the way, read past the idiots & carry on being creative

a little work on your structure & this'll be a cracking tune, then all you need to do is think about mixing down & mastering, i can help you there by pointing you in the right direction just message me.

as for all the pointless posts.......

all the guy asked for was feedback, whether you agree with the last guy or not THATS FOR BEN TO DECIDE !!!! jeeez everyones opinions are different just let him take them ALL on board & change the track how he see's fit!!! after all this is HIS track, not something YOUR producing!!

*edit's & add's* nice one influx, nice that someone has the time to leave their opinion, coz most people don't f*kin bother

Everyone keeps saying that, but the original dissagreement was that regardless of the quality of the advice, commenting on minor things in the mixdown (if he had asked for comments on the engineering, that would be different) won't help him, at all. It dosn't matter how well a tune is engineered if it's not good, it still won't be good, so it's misleading to offer that advice when it's ultimately going to make no difference to the music.
The other dissagreement was the manner in which the comments were made, like 'The mixdown is not great.'. That's just rude, it isn't remotely neccesary and i doubt its a mistake that it sounded rude.

I'm not dissing anyones replies, so don't complain about what i've said; but i think it should be pointed out that the tune isn't as bad as you would have him beleive based on things that ultimately don't matter (they would important if the discussion was about engineering).

ive said it before and ill say it again - i wanst intentionally trying to be a prick.

In my opinion people dont need to specifically ask about engineering feedback to get it. Engineering is part of a track to me, sure i agree with you, engineering wont help a bad track be better, i even said that myself, but it will make a good track sound more polished, and i believe that was a good track, so does it not make sense to make it sound more polished?

Also sometimes you have to finish tracks that arent your best just to get the practice and be better at it. If everyone only finished tracks that absolutely ripped it then the amount you learn from your music is going to be minimal compared to if you finish every track.

Thats just my opinion mate but i believe its logical to say that practice makes perfect. Hes not submitting a demo here to get himself signed, so why not give him feedback on EVERYTHING rather than just being completely specific about some things?

Im not complaining about what you said in the slightest, i just feel that some people have got the wrong impression about me. I wouldnt take the time to post that much feedback, and continue to defend myself throughout this whole post if i didnt love Hardcore. Simple as that. I couldnt give a **** whether i 'make it' or not - it doesnt phase me in the slightest. But if i can help someone else get there, then that would make me just as happy as if it happened to me.

Everyone who thinks im an arrogant ****, look at the big picture about what i posted. It was a running commentary of the track - i didnt have time to plan out a response and double check that it sounded polite. But it was nowhere near my intention to be a **** about it. Think logically, why would i post that muhc feedback AND be a dick about it?

Obviously, if he had a problem with the track he would have mentioned something. So, obviously Influx likes the track, the only criticism he has was in terms of engineering.

Bencow shouldn't take that as an insult, Hard2Get.

I think we are all bickering, and it makes me sad. Let's just be friends. :D
